When Someone Is Stranded, Every Minute Matters

The Ghana Rescue Case began with an urgent alert: a 58-year-old Czech traveller had gone missing near Ghana’s Uli Agumatsa Waterfalls. Injured and stranded alone in the gorge with only a torch, he was in a remote location where communication and access were challenging.

For BIA Assistance, the priority was immediate: locate the traveller, mobilize the right resources, and coordinate his safe recovery.

Ghana Rescue Case: From Alert to Action

Once BIA Assistance received the alert, our 24/7 Operations Team quickly began coordinating the response.

Using our network and local contacts, BIA established communication with Ghana’s National Park team. Rescue units were mobilized to help determine the traveller’s location and carry out a safe, coordinated search.

In a remote environment, trusted local connections and fast coordination can make a critical difference. BIA worked closely with the local team to keep the operation moving despite the difficult conditions.

When Communication Becomes a Challenge

The rescue operation faced another significant obstacle: unstable communication.

Dropped calls and distorted voices made it difficult to maintain consistent contact with the National Park rescue team. Information had to be exchanged carefully and repeatedly.

Despite these challenges, BIA’s Operations Team remained calm and focused. The team maintained communication whenever possible, supported the rescue effort, and continued coordinating step by step until the traveller could be located.

Found at Last

After hours of uncertainty, the rescue team finally found the traveller alive.

Despite being stranded and injured in the gorge, he had suffered only minor scars. His safe discovery brought immense relief to everyone involved.

What began as an emergency in an isolated location had reached a positive outcome through persistence, coordination, and teamwork.

Beyond the Rescue

For BIA Assistance, the case did not end when the traveller was found.

Our team promptly updated the insurance company with live photos and reports documenting the traveller’s condition and confirming the successful outcome of the rescue. This provided the insurance partner with clear and timely visibility throughout the resolution of the case.

From the initial alert to the final update, every stage required attention, communication, and determination.

What the Ghana Rescue Case Shows

Emergencies do not always happen in accessible locations. They can occur in remote environments where communication is unreliable and local resources are limited.

The Ghana Rescue Case demonstrates the importance of a responsive operations team, reliable local coordination, and the ability to remain focused when circumstances become unpredictable.

For BIA Assistance, successful assistance means staying connected and continuing to coordinate until the situation is resolved.

Because when someone needs help, distance should never stop the search.
